Terms of Service
Last updated: 6 July 2026
By using plateclear.co.uk ("the service") you agree to these terms. They are written to be plain English, not lawyer-bait.
1. What we offer
PlateClear shows you basic UK vehicle data — make, colour, tax/MOT status, MOT history (when available), and a risk score — based on official DVLA and DVSA data feeds. The service is provided free of charge.
2. Accuracy
The vehicle data is supplied by third-party government APIs and is shown as-is. We don't guarantee it is current, complete, or error-free. Use it as guidance only — for purchase decisions, always verify with the V5C log book and an official HPI/Experian check.
3. Acceptable use
- You may use the service for personal, non-commercial vehicle research.
- You must not scrape, automate, or overload the service.
- You must not use the service for any unlawful purpose, including identifying or contacting vehicle keepers.
- The data is licensable by DVLA/DVSA — bulk re-distribution is prohibited.
We rate-limit requests and may block IPs that abuse the service.
4. Email and communications
If you submit your email to view a full report, you consent to receive that report and occasional related communications from PlateClear. You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email or our unsubscribe page. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
5. No warranty
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We exclude liability to the maximum extent permitted by law for any direct or consequential loss arising from use of, or reliance on, the data shown.
6. Changes
We may update these terms or the service from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any changes. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
